I'm searching for the Pelkey (Peltier) family who lived in Champlain in the early 1800's (earliest I've found them is 1820). If they were Catholic, where would they have gone to have baptisms, marriages and burials done?

Is this Clinton County? If so, I have done much research of Catholic records of the Ogdenburh Diocese. Here is the contact info. You may be looking for St. Mary's RC parish. They are helpful and can tell you which parishes were in operation during whichever years your looking for and more importantly, where the records are for a church that is not operational anymore.

I am researching my Irish Catholic families of Thornton and Golden/Goulding in Clinton County from 1830 to present. I have copies of First Communion records from St John's in Plattsburgh NY. They lived in Beekmantown and West Chazy. The records were housed at the University of Plattsburgh, on microfiche.
My question is: Why travel to Plattsburgh to St. Johns. Was a Catholic church built in Beekmantown and when?
Is anyone else researching this family? Patricia Golden
