I have tried all of the online resources and have not been able to find the marriage record for my great grandparents: Jeremie/Jeremiah/Jerry DeMar/Desmarais/Demarais/Demara (~1827-1906) & Aurelie/Aurelia Seymour/Simard/Couture (~1831-?)
I have their 1850 census entry in Schuyler Falls, Clinton County. Their marriage was likely to be in the year 1845 to 1848 in a Catholic church. There is no marriage record in Canada that I can find. Potential relatives have marriage records in Plattsburgh (Santamore/St.Amour brothers married two of Jerry's sisters: Angleline and Eupheme(Phebe) Desmarais). Also, there are many "Couture dit Simard" or Seymour/Seymore families who may be Aurelie's relatives around Plattsburgh and Vermont.
My main goal is to verify their parents' names and locations.
Before 1860, Jerry and Aurelia Desmarais moved to Theresa, NY in Jefferson County. At some point they began using "DeMar". There are also records of Seymours moving to Jefferson County around that time.
Children are: Olive DeMar (Heath) 1848–1907
Saphronia DeMar (Sherby/Charbe') 1849–1911
Oliver DeMar 1851–1901
Adaline Demar 1853– ? (no records) Francis Xavier Zeb DeMar 1854–1937
Jeremiah (Jerry) DeMar Jr 1855– ? Joseph DeMar 1864–1930
Henry (Demera) Demar 1866– ? Alfred (Fred) DeMar 1872–1928 [my Grandfather]
If you have any ideas how I could locate the marriage record (Catholic or civil), please post a reply. Also, there's a good chance that birth records for their earlier children are in Clinton County.
Thank you, -John

Hi, I'm also trying to research them as well. My grandmother's name was Georgette DeMarr she passed in 2012. Her father was Francis J DeMarr and his father was Joseph DeMarr. I'm not sure why the name was changed and that is why I had a very hard time locating anyone. If you ever found out any information, could you please email me? reneegalarza81@gmail.com I would like to know my family. I always heard we were French-Indian and apparently Iroquois. I don't know anything else. My father doesn't have much information either.
Thanks so much! Hope this may have helped you.
